A high-level discussion marking the launch of the latest issue of Horizons, dedicated to the theme of multipolarity, was held in Moscow at MGIMO University, Russia’s premier school for international affairs. The event brought together prominent scholars, policymakers, and experts to reflect on the evolving global order and its implications.
The discussion was led by Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO, alongside Boris Titov, Special Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation for relations with international organizations on sustainability. Both emphasized the importance of sustained intellectual engagement in navigating today’s complex geopolitical landscape.

The newest issue of Horizons features contributions from distinguished authors across the globe, including Dmitri Trenin, the recently appointed head of the Russian International Affairs Council. The publication continues its tradition of offering diverse and forward-looking perspectives on key international developments.
Participants in the discussion included several senior Russian scholars and researchers, who engaged in a wide-ranging exchange on the first- and second-order effects of current geopolitical convulsions. Particular attention was paid to the impact on the global economy and the challenges facing the international community in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Rector Torkunov praised Horizons as “one of the best foreign policy publications in the world,” underscoring its growing influence as a platform for dialogue in an increasingly multipolar era.
